The Phantom Galaxy, which some astronomers refer to as the “perfect spiral” because to how symmetrical it is, is scientifically intriguing due to the advanced black hole that is thought to be present in its centre.

One of them is Judy Schmidt, who has spent years creating beautiful images from raw space data.. We now have simply remarkable photos of two magnificent spiral galaxies thanks to her meticulous work.

Comparing NGC 628

NGC 628 is among the most spectacular galaxies in our sky. It is a spiral galaxy with what is referred to as a “grand design”: arms that are visible, well-formed, and largely un-blurred. The distance is only 32 million light-years.

Left: James Webb Telescope/ Right: Hubble Telescope

After looking at the picture, we can definitely say James Web Telescope is worth the hype

Comparing NGC 7496

NGC 7496 is a spiral galaxy that is only 24 million light-years away and features spiral arms that extend from a distinct bar that crosses the galaxy’s nucleus.

Left: James Webb Telescope / Right: Hubble Telescope

By comparing the images, it can be shown that Webb still recognises the light gas, but with much more precision. The galactic nucleus appear as a brilliant, featureless glow in Hubble’s photos, but Webb sees right through them to reveal far more information about what is happening in the region where the galaxies are swirling around the supermassive black holes.

Source

Today is the anniversary of the deaths of Aretha Franklin (2018), Idi Amin (2003) and Elvis Presley (1977).

Thank you for reading today's post.
Have an InterStellar Day! ~PrP

In a brand-new image created by Judy Schmidt using information from the James Webb Space Telescope’s mid-infrared instrument, the fittingly called “Phantom Galaxy” glows hauntingly over a million miles from our planet The galaxy, which is actually known as NGC 628 or … Continue reading →

[105,56,18
1970,1969,1966,1968,1964,203,1963,1967,1926
post-43702","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-art","category-space","category-technology","tag-aretha-franklin","tag-elvis-presley","tag-galaxies","tag-idi-amin","tag-messier-74","tag-nasa","tag-ngc-628","tag-ngc7496","tag-the-james-webb-telescope
["GET
