But now, its close to dropping out of the top ten &#8211; tying for 10th place with Iceland and Lithuania,  It&#8217;s at its lowest position in the 20 year history of the index.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThe consolidation we\u2019re seeing at the top underscores that access is earned \u2014 and must be maintained \u2014 through active and strategic diplomacy,\u201d said Christian H. Kaelin, the inventor of the passport-index concept, in a statement, per&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/travel\/news\/2025\/07\/23\/most-powerful-passports-2025\/85322690007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">USA Today<\/a>. \u201cNations that proactively negotiate visa waivers and nurture reciprocal agreements continue to rise, while the opposite applies to those that are less engaged in such efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The Top 10 (there were ties in most rankings): <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">1. Singapore<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">2. Japan \/ South Korea<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">3. Denmark \/ Finland \/ France \/ Germany \/ Ireland \/ Italy \/ Spain<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">4. Austria \/ Belgium \/ Luxembourg \/ Netherlands \/ Norway \/ Portugal \/ Sweden<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">5. Greece \/ New Zealand \/ Switzerland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">6. United Kingdom<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">7. Australia \/ Czechia \/ Hungary \/ Malta \/ Poland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">8. Canada \/ Estonia \/ UAE<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">9. Croatia \/ Latvia \/ Slovakia \/ Slovenia <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">10. Iceland \/ Lithuania \/ USA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">There are 33 countries ahead of the USA (and possibly 35).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Many wealthy US citizens are purchasing golden passports.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">A golden passport, also known as Citizenship by Investment, allows foreign investors to exchange citizenship through financial contribution, allowing quick a citizenship process and benefits like visa-free travel. You can find a list of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goldenvisas.com\/country?utm_source=GoogleAdwords&amp;utm_medium=PPC&amp;utm_campaign=CampaignTracker&amp;utm_term=Golden%20visa&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=22579372463&amp;gbraid=0AAAAAD_N2m0SssHNHUZ3bkllYyeltx5I6&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQjw5JXFBhCrARIsAL1ckPshS9yikoRGWY4QnEDtRfuaQnzHuxBxaheAI03TZDVWZXOWIyadRdsaArAVEALw_wcB\">countries that offer them here<\/a>.  Malta is looking good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Generally searching, I found the following pop up as the &#8220;easiest&#8221; (relative term) countries that offer golden passports: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">1. Vanuatu<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Fast processing:<\/strong>&nbsp;Citizenship can be obtained in as little as 1\u20134 months.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Low minimum investment:<\/strong>&nbsp;Starts at $130,000 as a non-refundable contribution to a state fund.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>No residency requirement:<\/strong>&nbsp;Investors are not obligated to reside in Vanuatu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Benefits:<\/strong>&nbsp;Visa-free access to 90+ countries (including the UK, Schengen Area, and Singapore), favorable tax environment.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">2. Caribbean nations (Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Kitts &amp; Nevis, Antigua &amp; Barbuda, Grenada)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Relatively low investment thresholds:<\/strong>&nbsp;Starting from $200,000 for Dominica.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>No residency requirements:<\/strong>&nbsp;In most cases, applicants aren&#8217;t required to reside in the country.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Efficient processing:<\/strong>&nbsp;Passports can be issued within a few months.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Benefits:<\/strong>&nbsp;Visa-free access to numerous countries (e.g., Dominica passport offers visa-free access to 140+ countries, including the EU, UK, and Canada).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">3. Turkey<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Direct route to citizenship:<\/strong>&nbsp;Offers full citizenship, not just residency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Relatively quick processing:<\/strong>&nbsp;Citizenship can be obtained within 6 months.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Investment options:<\/strong>&nbsp;Real estate purchase starting at $400,000, or other options like bank deposits or business investments starting at $500,000.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>No residency requirement:<\/strong>&nbsp;Not obliged to reside in Turkey to maintain citizenship.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Keep in mind these considerations: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Due diligence:<\/strong>&nbsp;All golden passport programs have rigorous due diligence processes to verify the applicant&#8217;s background and source of funds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Tax implications:<\/strong>&nbsp;It&#8217;s advisable to consult with a tax professional to understand potential tax implications in both the applicant&#8217;s country of origin and the chosen country.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Changes in regulations:<\/strong>&nbsp;Golden passport programs are subject to changes in government policies and international regulations.
