I first stumbled upon the expression “exploitative journalism” when I went searching for more info about the events in the podcast S-Town<\/a> (a piece worth your time, imho – and yes, that is a pun<\/em> if you’ve already listened). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The below article relates to a short film that’s being Oscar nominated for Best Live Action Short Film. The family is upset because no one told them the movie was in production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think this below would qualify as a piece of “exploitative journalism.” Sadly, I think as a society we will just see more of this kind of storytelling. People everywhere are whipping out their cell phones to document any occasion. I don’t think it’s realistic to expect any sort of privacy consideration in today’s world. We are on display 24-7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
