And then it could continue with no end, making the edict ineffective. In my opinion, the best one can do is punish those that breached the edict to such a degree that no one would ever think of breaching it again.
What Trump et al is doing will have ramifications wide and deep for many including those who voted for him. Let them experience the power of their vote. Good or bad, lessons will be learned. If bad enough, hopefully his voters will think next time of the country instead of their own self interests, instead of voting to keep the country white.
