Way to Go, Ethiopia

Ethiopia’s parliament has just elected the country’s fourth president, and the first female head of state for Ethiopia in modern times:  Sahle-Work Zewde.  She is a career diplomat and a senior official at the U.N.

In June of this year, U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres appointed Sahle-Work Zewde as special representative to the African Union and head of the U.N. Office to the African Union — again, the first woman in the role. She was previously director-general of the U.N. Office at Nairobi and held a range of diplomatic posts, including Ethiopia’s ambassador to France and Djibouti.

A very hearty Congratulations to Ms. Sahle-Work Zewde, and to Ethiopia for honoring a woman as head of state.

Thank you for reading today's post. Have an InterStellar Day! ~PrP
