I first stumbled upon the expression “exploitative journalism” when I went searching for more info about the events in the podcast S-Town (a piece worth your time, imho – and yes, that is a pun if you’ve already listened).
The below article relates to a short film that’s being Oscar nominated for Best Live Action Short Film. The family is upset because no one told them the movie was in production.
I think this below would qualify as a piece of “exploitative journalism.” Sadly, I think as a society we will just see more of this kind of storytelling. People everywhere are whipping out their cell phones to document any occasion. I don’t think it’s realistic to expect any sort of privacy consideration in today’s world. We are on display 24-7.

Tying back to yesterday’s post, big news – it was announced that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY) has been appointed to the House Oversight Committee, along with three other progressive congresspersons: Ro Khanna (CA), Ayanna Pressley (MA) and Rashida Tlaib (MI).
Last week, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez was appointed to the House Financial Services Committee, chaired by another Woman Worth Watching: Rep. Maxine Waters (CA).
Thank you for reading today's post. Have an InterStellar Day! ~PrP
