There is an easier way to preserve the meat. Humans like their meat are full of water. They have been preserving it for centuries with salt. Salting meat preserves the meat because the salt draws water out of the meat and creates an environment that is inhospitable to most bacteria, fungi, and other pathogenic organisms.
If you are preserving meat on earth, salt would be your solution.
