Let’s be clear. Any thinking person could predict the Senate would let Trump off the hook. Hell, I knew it back when impeachment was still only an idea in the House. What has happened was ALWAYS going to happen. If anyone thought otherwise, they are too naive for words.
What does surprise me is how blatantly Republicans in the Senate are going along with the fix. Nay, most of them are positively giddy over crafting it. I suppose, in my own burst of naivety, I thought the Senate would be a little more subtle about it. I should have known better.

After the House indicted trump*, also known as impeachment, when the trial happened there were no witnesses, no evidence allowed. You can’t have a cover-up if you allow those. Instead, and reversing their original stance thst no quid pro quo happened, treasonous repubs decided that trump* is exempt from Constitutional constraints.
