As surveillance footage of an increasingly popular violent street crime has surfaced from South Carolina, police are warning Americans of the disturbing trend.
The crime is known as “jugging,” a type of robbery in which criminals surveil banks and ATMs, watching for victims who withdraw large sums of money. When those victims finish their transactions, the “juggers” will usually follow them to a secondary location, where they will rob the victims, often inside their vehicles.
“Jugging rhymes with mugging, it’s spread from Texas to South Carolina,” Fox News Senior Correspondent Steve Harrigan said on “America Reports” on Friday. “Some police there weren’t even sure what the word meant until the crime started happening in their own districts. Law enforcement warns that it could be over in a flash.”

The agencyâs withdrawal left only its co-plaintiff, the New York attorney general, to continue the enforcement lawsuit, so any final ruling would affect only New York and not the rest of the country.

Since President Donald Trumpâs second term began, the CFPB has moved to terminate or dismiss 18 such enforcement lawsuits, according to research by the Consumer Federation of America, a nonprofit advocacy organization. Those cases had accused banks, mortgage firms and installment lenders of financial abuses and deception.
âThese retreats are gifts to predatory lenders and would-be fraudsters,â said Erin Witte, director of consumer protection at the Consumer Federation of America. âThey are being told over and over that they can keep on doing what they are doing.â
In a statement, Credit Acceptance officials said âwe categorically reject the portrayal of our business practices as âpredatory.â For over 50 years, we have provided access to credit for individuals who are often overlooked by traditional lenders. ⌠The vast majority of our customers are grateful for and satisfied with the service we provide.â

WASHINGTON â Liberal Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson criticized her colleagues Friday in a scathing dissent in a case involving vehicle emissions regulations.
In her dissenting opinion, she argued that the court’s ruling gives the impression it favors âmoneyed interestsâ in the way it decides which cases to hear and how it rules in them. The court had ruled 7-2 in favor of fuel producers seeking to challenge the Environmental Protection Agency’s approval of California clean vehicle emissions regulations.
She also said she was concerned that the ruling could have “a reputational cost for this court, which is already viewed by many as being overly sympathetic to corporate interests.”

With the Trump administration reversing course on many of former President Joe Biden’s environmental policies, including those about California’s electric vehicle mandates, the case is most likely moot or soon will be, Jackson wrote, making her wonder why the court felt the need to decide it.
“This case gives fodder to the unfortunate perception that moneyed interests enjoy an easier road to relief in this court than ordinary citizens,” she wrote.
The case said the producers had legal standing to bring their claims, resting on a theory “that the court has refused to apply in cases brought by less powerful plaintiffs,” she added.
The decision has little practical importance now, but in the future, it “will no doubt aid future attempts by the fuel industry to attack the Clean Air Act,” she said.

“Also, I worry that the fuel industry’s gain comes at a reputational cost for this court, which is already viewed by many as being overly sympathetic to corporate interests,” she added.
The court, which has a 6-3 conservative majority, has often faced claims that it is particularly receptive to arguments made by big business. The conservative justices have been especially skeptical of broad government regulations, and they have consistently made it harder for consumers and workers to bring class action lawsuits.
Last year, the court overturned a 40-year precedent much loathed by business interests that empowered federal agencies in the regulatory process.

I am a white man that came to the book through my daughter who married a Mexican. I was very much against it, I still am. My beautiful, talented daughter threw that fucking book at me as she walked out the door of the home she grew up in swearing never to return. She told me and her mother to read it. My wife threw it in the trash and said she would never call children from a wet back her grand kids.
