It has been apparent Nunes was his head deep up into IQ45, we just didn’t have the proof. Instead of what you quite logically suggest the American people have mostly gone the other way, despite the very clear signpost in Washington that Republicans have been & are for pro GOP dictatorship of the U.S.
In their great wisdom, fairness & decency the American people have over & over joined, voted for and emboldened the GOP to the point where in Washington, despite the actual numbers, elected Republicans feel they run the city as the party of power and elected Dems are merely their underlyings, almost powerless “citizen advocates” but certainly not equals.

The issue for today’s and future generations must deal with are unrestrained political power and corporate greed.
“Winner take all” is not what the Constitution intended. The minority, which are the majority of Americans who voted against Trump in 2016, have rights and protections. Or, so we have been taught. The reality though is different.
With Trump in the White House and Rs picking the judges on every federal court for generations we are quickly becoming a one-party rule with a self-anointed Chosen One president who has no bounds in circumventing the law.
The “winners” are corporations and the deity-stamped usurpers who want to gut the First Amendment and establish a theocratic Plutocracy in America. We are almost there.
RELIGION spelt large, advanced by rapacious corporate-political power, is the single biggest population controller and repressor of freedom and liberty.
Consider the Iraq War when a Gallup Poll asked if Americans were willing to give up some of their liberties and freedoms if it meant keeping us safe. The majority said Yes.
The challenge today is more critical than ever now that an ignorant, lying, narcissist-despot occupies the Oval Office. Trump makes no pretense of exacting his vengeance against his critics and political opponents.
The Gallup poll question now becomes: “How many more freedoms and liberties are you willing to cede to one potentate who exploits every opportunity to wield unbridled powers and control over your lives?”
