Iran immediately reopens the Strait of Hormuz to all commercial vessels, while the U.S. lifts its naval blockade on Iranian ports. The lifting of the U.S. blockade would begin immediately after the memorandum is signed and be completed within 30 days.
FINANCIAL:
* The U.S. agrees not to impose any new sanctions on Iran until a final deal is reached.
* Following a final agreement, all U.S. and U.N. sanctions on Iran would be lifted according to an agreed timetable.
* The U.S. will waive oil sanctions on Iran for a specified period, allowing Tehran to sell oil and receive revenue.
* The U.S. agrees to release $25 billion of Iran’s frozen assets, including via direct cash transfers, cooperation among regional countries, and financial credit lines.
* Washington, in coordination with its regional allies, would prepare a reconstruction and development plan for Iran, to be negotiated and agreed with Tehran within 60 days.
NUCLEAR:
* Tehran agrees that it will neither produce nor acquire nuclear weapons.
* Pending a final agreement, Iran would maintain the current status of its nuclear programme, refraining from further uranium enrichment and expansion of nuclear facilities.
* The United States agrees to allow Iran to dilute its stockpile of highly enriched uranium on Iranian soil under a future comprehensive agreement.
* Iran’s nuclear programme, uranium enrichment activities and mechanisms for handling its stockpile of highly enriched uranium would be negotiated within 60 days of the memorandum and addressed in a final agreement.

When you buy a new car today, you’re not just buying a vehicle. You’re signing up for something closer to a subscription surveillance service, except you don’t get a discount for participating, and nobody asks for your permission.
The comparison to smart TVs isn’t a stretch. Before Walmart completed its acquisition of the company, Vizio’s financial reports revealed that the majority of its gross profit came from selling viewer data and advertising, not from selling physical televisions.
New vehicles now operate on a similar model, and most drivers have no idea it’s happening. Like TVs, the hardware (i.e., your car) is one thing, but your driving habits might be the actual product.

Modern connected vehicles are packed with sensors, cameras, microphones, GPS systems, and onboard computers. Many of these systems are twofold: they keep the vehicle in a safe working condition and serve the driver on a daily commute, but they can also serve the manufacturer and its end goals.
Your car can log where you go, when you leave, how hard you brake, how often you speed, and whether you drive during the day or night. Some systems go further. Cameras monitor facial expressions to detect drowsy or distracted driving, issuing a warning when you look away from the road for too long. Always-on microphones capture audio inside the cabin. When you connect your smartphone, the vehicle can pull your contact list, call history, and text messages, linking them back to your account with the manufacturer.
A Mozilla Foundation report, titled *Privacy Not Included, found that none of the 25 major automakers it assessed met basic standards for data transparency, user control, or security. The researchers found that 84% of those brands share or sell driver data, and 92% give drivers little to no control over what is collected. The data your car generates is not just sitting on a server somewhere. It is being packaged, sold, and used in ways most car buyers never anticipate.
“Many people think of their car as a private space—somewhere to call your doctor, have a personal conversation with your kid on the way to school, cry your eyes out over a break-up, or drive places you might not want the world to know about,” said Jen Caltrider, Program Director of the *Privacy Not Included report. “But that perception no longer matches reality. All new cars today are privacy nightmares on wheels that collect huge amounts of personal information.”

Many drivers are simply unaware
GM previously used its OnStar Smart Driver feature to track driver behavior, including instances of hard braking, late-night driving, and speeding, as often as every three seconds. That data was sold to consumer reporting agencies, which passed it along to insurance companies. Drivers found out only when their premiums went up, or their coverage was denied.
As one consumer stated in an FTC complaint after confronting a GM customer service representative: “When I signed up for this, it was so OnStar could track me. They said nothing about reporting it to a third party. Nothing. […] You guys are affecting our bottom line. I pay you, now you’re making me pay more to my insurance company.”
The Federal Trade Commission filed a complaint against GM and OnStar and eventually finalized a settlement order. GM now faces a five-year ban on sharing geolocation and driver-behavior data with consumer reporting agencies, alongside a 20-year consent order requiring explicit permission before collecting or sharing connected-vehicle data. California followed with a separate $12.75 million civil penalty under its consumer privacy law, the largest ever under the California Consumer Privacy Act.
For context, however, GM reportedly earned roughly $20 million from data sales over a four-year period, meaning the fine still falls short of what it made from selling drivers’ information in the first place. Furthermore, the FTC settlement carries no financial penalty at the federal level, a stark reminder for some that federal consumer protection in this space still lacks real teeth.
GM is not the only example either. The Texas attorney general sued Allstate and its subsidiary Arity for allegedly collecting and selling the driving data of more than 45 million people without consent.
Meanwhile, Connecticut’s attorney general issued dozens of violation notices in 2025 under the state’s data privacy law, with connected vehicles and location data listed as a specific enforcement focus. Likewise, Oregon updated its privacy law in September 2025 to cover all automakers operating in the state, regardless of size, closing a loophole that had allowed smaller manufacturers to avoid compliance.
Here’s a way to stop sending your data back to the car maker. It might involve a bit of work; but dig around until you locate the coax cable going to the car’s LTE antenna. Once you find it, permanently DISCONNECT IT! There won’t be any data going back home to the manufacturer anymore, at least not that way.
Of course, if you get service at a dealership they’ll probably grab the data there and send it back. But you can stop that too. The easiest way is to just avoid taking your car to the dealer for service in the first place. Use a local independent service shop instead. But if you absolutely have to take it back to the dealer go invest in a scan tool (a few hundred dollars) and wipe the car’s ECU memory before dropping it off. There might be a little data left there, but nothing of much use.
Oh, and as far as not being connected thru that coax cable, that’s what my phone is for. Maps, texts, and phone calls come in just fine there … without needing any help from my car.

DOJ Plans To File At Least 250 Denaturalization Cases By October: CNN
The Trump administration is ramping up its efforts to revoke the citizenship of naturalized Americans as part of the president’s crackdown on immigration.
The Justice Department is planning to file at least 250 denaturalization cases by October, CNN reported on Thursday. The DOJ has already tried to strip the citizenship of 29 foreign-born Americans in the past two months.
A senior DOJ official told CNN that the department has instructed civil litigators from various divisions to assist with filing denaturalization cases in an effort to pick up the pace of the effort.
Meanwhile, Homeland Security Department officials have been reportedly told to refer at least 200 denaturalization cases per month to the DOJ, The New York Times has previously reported.

However, the findings are based on highly detailed data, and we have taken account of other factors that can increase or lower the risk of cardiovascular disease,” said senior study author Mathilde Touvier, one of the project leaders of the NutriNet-Santé study and a research director at the French National Institute for Health and Medical Research (Inserm), in a statement released by the European Society of Cardiology, publishers of the journal. Inserm is the French equivalent of the National Institutes of Health in the U.S.

DNS is the phonebook of the internet. It translates domain names we type into our browsers (such as howtogeek.com, for instance) into IP addresses that computers can understand.
By default, your router, and by extension all devices connected to your home network, use your ISP’s default DNS resolver, which isn’t encrypted in any way, and exposes your DNS queries to your ISP and anyone with access to your network. Many DNS servers provided by ISPs aren’t very snappy, either. The same applies to your phone; when you’re on mobile data, the phone uses your carrier’s DNS server.
On the other hand, we have private DNS providers such as Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1, Quad9, and NextDNS, which not only encrypt DNS requests but are often faster at resolving them than those provided by ISPs and mobile carriers, making them a better choice not only from privacy and security perspectives, but also performance-wise.
This is why setting up private DNS on routers has become so popular. Not only are your connections more secure, but DNS requests are also often resolved faster, which can make websites load more quickly. Since the private DNS is set on your router, all devices on your network use the same DNS resolver, which simplifies things.
This also applies to your Android phone, but only if you don’t have Private DNS enabled. You can access this setting by opening Settings and going to Network & internet > Private DNS on Pixel phones, or Settings > Connections > More connection settings > Private DNS on Samsung Galaxy phones. If you do use a private DNS provider on your Android phone, however, it will ignore your router’s custom DNS settings.
Running a private DNS may cause network issues on your phone
Your router or a Wi-Fi network you’re connected to might not play nice with your phone’s private DNS
In most cases, having different private DNS providers on your router and phone doesn’t matter. Devices on your network that don’t have one configured will use the router’s DNS service, while your Android phone will use the one configured on the phone itself. However, this setup can cause certain issues.
If your ISP or router blocks DNS-over-TLS traffic, it can prevent Android’s Private DNS feature from working properly. This is because Android’s Private DNS feature uses the DNS-over-TLS protocol, which relies on encrypted connections over port 853. So, if your router blocks port 853, it can prevent your phone from communicating with its private DNS provider, which can cause websites to stop loading. On the other hand, DNS-over-HTTPS routes DNS queries over port 443, which is also used for regular HTTPS traffic, making it much more difficult to block without affecting other web traffic.
The same can happen if you’re using a router with a custom DNS service configured to prevent devices from bypassing its DNS filtering. For instance, NextDNS includes a setting called Block Bypass Methods that blocks known third-party DNS services and forces devices to use the router’s DNS filter instead. As a result, Android phones with Private DNS enabled may be unable to use their configured DNS provider, which can cause connectivity issues.
Using private DNS on your phone can also cause issues on company and university Wi-Fi networks, because they often block DNS-over-TLS and enforce the use of their own DNS servers.
You can resolve the conflict
It’s really simple
If you’re experiencing problems, there are a number of potential solutions. None is perfect, but many work quite well.
The most straightforward solution is to disable Private DNS when your phone is connected to your home Wi-Fi. This can be annoying because you’ll have to enable Private DNS every time you leave home or switch to mobile data, but there are apps that add a Private DNS toggle to Android’s Quick Settings panel. All you have to do is grant a single permission via ADB (Android Debug Bridge) or Shizuku while configuring them.
You can also use the same private DNS provider on both your phone and router. This way, you can enjoy the same benefits and avoid conflicts, especially if you’re using a provider that allows advanced configuration, without having to disable Private DNS on your phone whenever you’re connected to your home Wi-Fi.
