    Did You Know?

The star UY Scuti, visible in the night sky as part of the constellation Scutum, is a red supergiant that, with a volume nearly five billion times larger than our Sun, is considered one of the largest known stars by radius.

  2. Alberto says:

It’s not plausible for Trump to go 7 hours without using a phone to talk or otherwise message while supposedly awake. Either he or those who kept the records have been consciously aware that his actions that day violated the law — probably both.

    • Boca says:

n days gone by, an 18 minute gap in an surreptitiously made audio recording brought down a presidency (as well as a whole lot of federal tax evasion). But, now, a six hour gap of information is missing; not secretly recorded, but for which federal law mandates must be accounted. And the person, who at the time, was ultimately responsible for maintaining the information now claims it wasn’t his job and he never heard of burner phones. And worse, at least one third of the nation’s adult population buys in to the excuses without question.

      • Louis says:

Nixon had the gap in his recording tape about what was said in the Oval Office, and Trump’s call log is missing hours of phone calls he made. Both, one must assume for the same reason, a cover-up of nefarious activity. This is why Republicans wanted to kill the investigation, for fear this is exactly what they would find, a smoking gun in his hand.

Trump’s now, according to the latest statement, like sergeant Shultz on Hogan’s Heros, ‘I know nothing’. He didn’t explain why the gap in the White House logs when he was on the phone, documented by several GOP witness testimony, talking to him. The irregularities, like the call log, goes against him, it’s his own operation he was running. Trump thought he was too smart to get caught with deception.

      • Donna says:

It’s amazing how much this guy can get away it. If a anyone tried this in a courtroom, the judge would be apoplectic. I don’t know why the US is so afraid of jailing a former President. Many huge nations have done it for legitimate reasons and they didn’t sink into anarchy. This man has broken so many laws so blatantly that you could explain it to a 5 year old. Yet years of investigation, subpoenas and depositions and we’ve yet to see an indictment. There will be another politician as unscrupulous, vile and mendacious as Trump yet weirdly seen as charismatic by a significant portion of the populace. That is a guarantee. The only thing that isn’t is that they might not be as stupid. They won’t be as blatant. There won’t be as obvious a paper trail. There won’t be witnesses. Putting Trump in prison would at least give the next sociopath pause about trying to get away with what he’s getting away it. Letting him go scot free or worse letting him get re-elected will be the beginning of the end.

        • Louis says:

The answer is simple. GOP is filled with a gang of traitors who are more loyal to king roach Donald Trump than to their country. Mitt Romney was the only member to join Democrats to impeach Trump. The rest of them spineless unprincipled GOPers let him free and continue his journey of screwing up our democracy, our constitution. And now we have department of justice doing nothing to hold him accountable on any of the many crimes he has committed.

      • John M says:

I think Trump has all of Epstein’s tapes so a lot of people are afraid to come forward. Same reason why Ghislaine Maxwell has gone MIA since the trial. shelf got the goods on so many people they’re keeping her quiet. Whats ironic is that Trump is an obvious child molester and pervert, friends with Epstein, who mysteriously dies in jail, and all of a sudden when that spot light came on some mysterious thing/person named Q comes along and turns Trump into the hero, the opposite of what he really is and says everyone else, especially those democrats are the perverts and child traffickers. Stranger still is people refuse to see through this flimsy veil and still, everyday people support Trump enthusiastically.

      • Connie says:

Does it even matter…? tRump has proven that he is above the law. No wonder he does what he wants — he’s never held accountable. Republican senators should be ashamed of themselves. But hey, to be ashamed one must have a sense of shame, and no republican senator does…

      • Tommy says:

I am not so sure that anyone using non-traceable phones are really that non-traceable especially from a specific place like the WH with calls going in and out. I would think that the all powerful NSA would have the means to trace and record just about anything that was going on that day in the WH. Time will tell.

    • Shawn says:

      Consciousness of guilt much?
This makes the Nixon tape gap look positively amateurish. Will someone arrest these people, please!

  3. Terrie says:

Louis, Truth! I think some are so afraid to set a precedent for the future. Yet, we have never had a more corrupt president and it cannot happen again. This is what is so frustrating about all of this. The DOJ MUST do their job and make sure that trump and all his minions are charged and held accountable. Otherwise, this can all happen again. We, as American citizens (the real patriots) must have answers!

    • HK says:

The FBI probably with the help from the notional security agency (NSA) has been finding magats who were at the capital using cell communications surely they have the ability to figure out what calls and to whom they went from the most important building in the country. This is what the NSA specialises in. Either this information is available and they won’t share it or the agency is a waste of time and money.

  4. AJ says:

What nothing about the Ukraine today? You hypocrites. Israel has been doing much the same to the Middle East. Yet, we hear nothing much about it. And what about the wars in Syria, Yemen and other Middle East countries?

    • CG says:

Perhaps it’s because of shared culturural values, political conduct, attitudes towards women and children, respect for education, religious commonality, shared history, expectation of social integration, democratic expectations, etc., etc.

      • Amid says:

Shared cultural values alright…..EUROPEAN cultural values.

        • CG says:

That’s correct. Despite our embrace of world wide diversity in America we are still larger defined by European heritage. For European countries accepting Ukranians that is even more self evident.

    • Dan says:

Ukrainians are fighting to the death with nearly every able bodied man and many women taking up arms to defend their country. We need only look at what happened in Afghanistan and Iraq even when we supplied them with training and weapons when we left. They are not the same cultures, the same peoples, the same desires. They are simply not comparable.

      • Andrew says:

Iraqis and Afghans were also fighting to the death against American invaders. What’s the difference?

      • SDB says:

They have been selling the weapons that we have been giving them after they claimed they needed those weapons.

They have been near the top of nations where human trafficking, illegal arms dealing, drug trafficking and cyber crime are rampant.

Ukraine was a cesspool of crime and corruption before this “war”, and is even worse now.
You are right, racist, they are NOT the same culture, the same peoples, the same desires. They are simply not comparable.

        • Gloria says:

Ukraine was a cesspool of crime?
Certainly true before getting rid of Putin’s tool in 2014.
I am not at all sure that republican tag line holds up for the last eight years.

        • CG says:

Oh, SDB, the russian propaganda has found a comfortable home in your black heart which appears to be filled with many, many lies.

    • Dan says:

Not nearly the hypocrisy the Middle East is seeing. Putin and Russia have global implications in its actions attempting to rebuild the old USSR empire for the world. The conflicts in the Middle East are not with such a military power capable of annihilating the planet and Putin has threatened the West with it in Ukraine.

The stakes for countries in the Middle East are great, but populations see the rise of Russia into a goliath spanning Europe much greater. The European response far exceeds measurers recognizing the stakes in losing Ukraine and what follow on.

    • Clyde says:

“Israel’s occupation of lands the Palestinians want for a future state is well into its sixth decade, and millions of Palestinians live under military rule with no end in sight.”
This is a meaningless assertion as all of Israel is part of what some Palestinians want for a future state. Israel is not an occupier in its own state regardless of Arab claims to the contrary.

    • Helena says:

Fuck those Middle East countries who use religion to basically make pimping and pedophilia legal. The Taliban hardliners made new rules banning something every few weeks when they were in power in the 90s. They are doing the same today. It’s bad when a government tries to be even more strict than North Korea. All of these restrictions depress the economy, decrease life span and reduce innovation to almost zero. The Taliban is much more strict than the medieval Islamic governments. They are weak men with tiny dicks using religion to make their females sexual slaves.
Frankly who gives a fuck what happens to Muslim men. If you can call them that. In the West a man is not afraid of a woman’s independence, unless of course they are republicans.

      • Kevin says:

All that money spent. All those Americans killed or permanently injured and the place looks pretty much like it did on 9/10/2001

      • Nancy says:

The Taliban you say? Here we have the Republican supreme court that intends to turn back the clocks here and take us back seventy years.

    • Charles says:

AjJ, what reality are you living in? Middle Eastern men are a bunch of whining punks. They are so brave when it comes to beating up upon or terrorizing their women, but ask them to defend their country or government… Hell, take for Afghanistan for example. 75,000 defeated a country of 30 million people who refused to fight to defend their country. They deserve what they are getting. They should have fought back like the Ukrainians.

  5. TRS says:

One region has been a festival of religious wars since 632 AD and looks like it is still 632.
The other region has had a series of “strong men” that think their ego’s should be stated by starting wars and stealing money.
Both have massively failed the gods and their egos.

    • Joyce says:

They care very much about who and which tribe posses the true teachings of Mohammad. So much so, they have been killing each other since the day their prophet died.

  6. Claude says:

“Taliban Hard-Liners Turn Back The Clock In Afghanistan With Series Of Repressive Edicts”
EXACTLY like the GQP in the States… acts to thwart democracy with voter restrictions, acts to thwart our constitution relating to worker rights, women rights, thwart educational knowledge, and thwart constitutional guarantees for career public servants nationwide.

  7. Robert says:

Warning reading this article could make you throw up.
Another GOP owned state that cuts support for the things that matter so it can claim low taxes and smaller government. Congratulations, yet another way to see the GOP mantra is unable to live up to its own hype. All these powerful republican men doing nothing to protect vulnerable children. It’s become clear that republican men are not the protectors they so very much like to make themselves out to be.

That is something the lizard brains do not get that a communities social services need to be balanced to meet the needs of the community. When republiCONS are in charge all they do is cut with no regard to impact on the community. They spent so much money on trying to prove that the Orangetang really won. AZ spent millions, only proved he lost, yet they would not spend to protect children.

    • Horacio says:

Sometimes it seems that conservatives are purposefully trying to provide cover for the child predators. This is the state that hired Cyber Ninjas to audit votes in an undisclosed secret lair. They have money for public service, but choose to waste it instead. It is like in Texas where the governor tried to divert CPS resources to attack parents of trans children, thus leaving the feiod wide open to child molesters. Obviously the annual high profile cases of evangelicals harming children became too embarrassing and had to stop.

    • Elena says:

I had to stop reading before I threw up, but a couple of things stuck with me:
Gosh, it’s almost like the way a man behaves in public is a reflection of his character and not just “locker room talk”.
At least these foster kids weren’t placed with a gay couple, amirite, Arizona?

  8. Ruth says:

The SCOTUS selection process was forever poisoned when Mitch McConnell refused to allow President Obama to have hearings or his pick for the Supreme Court. It was further destroyed when Mitch McConnell rammed Amy Comey Barrett onto the court while people were casting votes in this last election. There is no ‘both sides’ to this argument. Republicans broke with over 200 years of precedent to pack the court with partisans. People who try and argue ‘both sides’ do it don’t know history. One side did it and they broke the system in the process.

Let’s hope we get Jackson on the Court. She is at least competent which is something we certainly can’t say about those bought and paid for members put on by the republicans.

    • Rhonda says:

No way am I taking Susan Collins‘ word that she will vote for Jackson. There’s too much time before the actual vote where she can, and usually does, reconsider how ‘very concerned’ she is about those issues she doesn’t agree with.

    • Jerromy says:

Dems need to start talking very loudly about removing unlce thomas, NON STOP. Bet the traitor party votes for her in hopes we dont convict thomas of treason, because that is exactly what he did.

  9. Sky says:

Ms. Jackson is more than qualified to sit on the bench. And I’m sure the GQP knows that, which is why they’re fighting it so much.

  10. Barbara says:

First, don’t you think that whatever Hunter Biden has done in the past, the worst of it would be out long since? Second, is there anything Hunter Biden could realistically have done that would damage Joe Biden in 2024? Only the really hard core conspiracy theorists think that Joe Biden might have serious moral failings. To the majority of Americans his character is one of his greatest strengths. It’s the ballot box corruption that’s going to be the problem in 2024. If it wasn’t for all the voter disenfranchisement legislation being passed in the states, Trump wouldn’t stand a chance. MHO.

    • Jim says:

“Only the really hard core conspiracy theorists think that Joe Biden might have serious moral failings.”

And it’s likely they also think Trump is a paragon of morality. They come from a land where up is down, wrong is right, and true is false.

  11. Jim says:

All you have to do is look back at Bidens voting history and you’ll see how he does what he’s told. Trump does not. And that’s why half of the country supports him while Biden is losing more each day.

    • Whitney says:

This is not about a voting record. This simply right versus wrong. Trump is not a leader. He’s a lapdog to North Korea, Russia, and China. Even with Biden’s faults, there’s no question of his loyalties.

    • KT says:

Yea, OK, Trump is a pinnacle of morality, trust and patriotism. Right.

  12. Bob says:

Interesting, isn’t it? With all the evidence Trump and his allies claim that they have on Hunter Biden from the “recovered” laptop, Trump is desperately calling out to Putin to provide “damaging evidence” on Biden’s son.
As usual, when Trump wants his cult to ignore the set of lies that has been fully discredited, he tosses out another outrageous possibility to distract supporters from the truth and keep the illusion ongoing.

  13. Carlo says:

57 Arab and Muslim states offered to make peace with Israel.
Arab League in 2002, “The Arab Peace Initiative”.
Israel refuses to respond to the Arab Peace Initiative.
Originally, the Arab Peace Initiative offered Israel diplomatic relations with the entire Arab world in exchange for a “Israeli withdrawal from Arab territories occupied since June 1967.”
The establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and a “just” and “agreed upon” solution to the Palestinian refugee question.

  14. Milton says:

The Arab states offered Israel a plan that would eliminate Israel as a Jewish state. They offered indefensible borders and a complete change of demographics. The definition of a Palestinian is extremely broad and is significantly vaguer than necessary. A Palestinian is defined in this case as anyone from any Arab country that lived in the disputed territory at the time of Israel’s formation. Someone who came to the territory seeking employment and was only there for 6 months can claim status as a Palestinian refugee. That plan was intended to destroy Israel.

  15. Carlo says:

The Plan was intended to put an end to the Palestinian Israeli conflict. The Plan was for all Arab/Muslim countries to recognize Israel within internationally recognized borders. Israel has yet to respond.

  16. J[8 says:

When we be allowed to put the second phase of our assistance to Ukraine in affect?

  17. JJ says:

Milton, What’s wrong with a complete change of demographics?? Jewish Americans have been telling white people for decades that demographic replacement is a good thing. Why the change of heart for Israel? Diversity is our strength, remember?

  18. Mandy says:

As long as Israel keeps the brutal occupation going, keeps stealing lands for illegal settlements, and kills unarmed civilians, these ugly incidents will keep going on.
“Armed conflict between Israel and Palestinian armed groups in the Gaza Strip in May entailed apparent war crimes and possible crimes against humanity. Disproportionate and reckless strikes by Israeli forces killed 242 Palestinians in Gaza. Unlawful attacks by Israel included targeted strikes on medical facilities and personnel. Israel maintained its illegal blockade on the Gaza Strip, inflicting collective punishment on residents and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis there, and Palestinians’ freedom of movement was arbitrarily restricted in the West Bank.”

Israel cannot keep treating Palestinians this way, break international laws, and expect these long suffering people to grin and bear it.

  19. Michelle says:

What if China had a plan to start a war between Russia, NATO, and the US? What if they encouraged Putin to invade Ukraine with the promise to assist Russia if they needed it, but China’s plan was to get Russia to allow them to have access to their territorial waters so that China could launch a nuke towards Europe or the US? Both NATO and the US would immediately nuke Russia. With those powers locked into combat China would come out the big winner, all because of a cleverly planned ruse. Especially if they have underground facilities to protect key personnel in the event some of the radiation reaches those parts of China they plan to rule the world from.

  20. K^/7 says:

The number is 49. Make contact and advise any earthling you are bringing up of protocol. Our Ukraine group has plans to bring the war to Russia proper and its allies. Fission prevention is NOT in place. Cell responsible for it submits its AAR within the hour.

  21. Bill says:

When we let the rules that ensure fairness and justice for ALL slide because we think we benefit personally, we degrade what America is supposed to be and our future . No one in America is supposed to be above the law. If we apply the rules that govern that principle to everyone that comes before the court regardless of our prejudices, and whether or not we will benefit from how those rules are applied, then we will guarantee that the future of this nation as a democratic republic will endure.

  22. James says:

Bill, of course you are right, but then there are those who don’t care about fairness or the truth. They pretend otherwise because the truth, and equal justice doesn’t align with their cherished beliefs and prejudices. They are hypocritical liars and the most dangerous and vicious type of citizen in America because they speak lies in hypocrisy and knowingly pervert the truth in service to a lie.

  25. Helena says:

Here’s the thing about the bible. All these religious groups claim it is the literal word of “God”. But it’s not, of course, because it is a translation of a translation, of a translation, from Hebrew(Jewish Palestian Aramaic) to Greek to Latin. But everything they use in it has to be interpreted and those interpretations ALWAYS agree with the opinions they hold. When someone else has a different interpretation they are called heretics or some other thing.

  26. J^/L1 says:

Tomorrow we will be a very interesting day for the Russians. J]9 we look forward to your endeavors. Make us proud.

    • O^/6 says:

As long as you are aware that the Russian military intends to lure the Ukraine military into a battle at Donetsk. The Russians have a significant advantage in the Southeast. They have at least 40 thousand troops and a pretty strong logistical supply there. There military tactic is to move in north of the Ukraine troops along the line of combat in the Donetsk area and surround them. Using what the military calls a Double envelopment the Russians should be able to destroy them.
If we are allowed to intervene, we can make it a very interesting fight for the Russians. It will be a glorious savage interchange with something for everyone. Will we turn the tide for the Ukrainians or will we insure a fabulous feast for you meat eaters upstairs at the expense of the Ukrainians? Either way you will get to witness a brutal confrontation demonstrating the barbarism the humans exhibit towards each other in combat.

And then there is the prospect that we could use the weapons provided by the US to take the battle to the Crimea. Oh, yes, then the nukes would be on the table. Will the US standby and allow the Russians to launch first or will they launch first? If they do will they attempt a first strike upon China and India as they launch against Russia? Both China and India don’t think the US is aware of their secret treaty to come to the aid of the other if the other is attacked. What side will Pakistan take? Will they trust China to assist them in their feud with India or will they launch against India hoping that in the confusion, India will think that it was from the US? Barbecue for those that love their meat cooked.

      • 8^/4 says:

We were here first. We assisted Ukraine in the retaking of in 2014. That is where the next great battle should take place. Yes, the Russians have a huge military advantage there, but Ukraine has us. If allowed, we can keep this conflict going for at least another 6 months before Putin feels he has to launch to save face. We are talking about over a hundred thousand possibles. That is a lot of steaks. Most importantly, no violation of ˇÓ´ ´Â∏´‰O‰’s Edict.

These humans will find another way to anníhilate each other if we save them here. Whether they do it slowly by wrecking the planet’s infrastructure or quickly by nuking the planet, it will happen.

        • O^/6 says:

Yes, you assisted Ukraine in the retaking of Sloviansk, but that was against Russia-backed military troops, not the Russian military itself. This is not 2014 and Putin has more, much more at stake. We have more experience in today’s arena with russian aggression and their military capabilities. Hence we are in the better position to extend the conflict without either party becoming aware of our participation.
Ukraine would be swamped and slaughtered in a merciless onslaught by Russia, if we do not assist. We are the better equipped to assist Ukraine. If it is necessary we can shift the major battle area to a compromise area within the Donbas area to meet your objections.

  27. N/4L7 says:

Allowing China to experience the COVID mess they started is okay with the aliens living there. However, there should be some relief given to Shanghai. Not an order, but definitely a highly desired suggestion.

    • N[9 says:

Just say it’s an order. We don’t feel the separation policy is being used without the appropriate logic needed to address their runaway infection problem.

  28. Julie says:

Who has the right to love and who doesn’t is something the Republican Party believes is their right to determine. It wasn’t until 1967 that SCOTUS decided that interracial marriage was legal. How many families in America are criminals because they chose to love and marry someone from a different race? Most of white america doesn’t care about what they have done to those people. So states like Tennessee where there is republicans control of the legislature is trying to prevent marriages they disagree with in the state of Tennessee.

  29. Carolyn says:

My alien lover offered me a way out if the planet becomes a radiated orb in space. I asked to bring my twin sister and her husband up. He said no, so I refused to go. He said that he loves me, but he won’t help me bring my sister and her husband up with me. Don’t trust aliens. They don’t have emotions. They are pure logic which makes them unreliable when it comes to emotional issues.

I have been with him for 4 years and I loved the insensitive bastard. But no more. Bill if you are reading this lose my phone number. I hope you choke on the smell of my burning corpse.

    • Bill says:

I will not lose your phone number. It has only been 3 years 8 months 3 weeks 3 days and if the hour is correct 8 hours of a very interesting relationship. I love you still. But I am a soldier aboard a very tight run vessel. As such, I am duty bound to obey orders. Those orders explicit state that I can offer only one seat to a human. I made that offer to you. I respect your decision, but I will not take pleasure nor will I choke on the smell of your burning corpse. Actually your corpse will not burn. You will feel a slight burning sensation as every pore and orifice of your body attempts to eliminate at the same time. You make not live or be aware of the loss of every hair follicle on your body, because the sensation to scratch the ever increasing itchiness on various areas of your body will take precedent. To show you that I have feelings, Although I will not be able to spare you the radiation trauma you will experience as a result of being exposed to intense radiation, I will risk my safety and the discipline of my mothership and remain long enough to give you a second chance to accept a seat.

This I will do knowing that you have revealed that which you promised me that you would not reveal to others.

      • Carolyn says:

Bill, stop. I apologize for violating your trust, but you knew when we met (almost) 4 years ago that I was different and you accepted that. Besides this is a very small town. Everybody knows everything about everybody here. Frankly its too cold to be fighting, you know how I love how you keep me warm while traveling in this snowbound little enclave. But how can you expect me to leave my only family to die in such a horrible way?

  30. O^/6 says:

We ask again that when we push back the Russians, allow us to pursue them. At least allow us to continue the pursuit to the ends of the true Ukraine border. We can stop them at Donbas and drive them back into Russia proper. Yes, it will be difficult but NATO and the US the policy of keeping the situation in a state of not allowing Ukraine’s military to win too much or Russia’s military to lose to much.
We are limited to what we can do without the equipment to do it. The West is continuing to fail to provide Ukraine with the offensive weaponry that it needs. We can defeat Russia in a few months if not weeks if we get the type of military equipment we need to make credible that a small army like Ukraine’s can defeat a military superpower like Russia. We can make that believable with Javelyns alones. We need other air defense and offensive weapons just sitting NATO and US warehouses. Using them does not violate ˇÓ´ ´Â∏´‰O‰’s Edict. Slight augmentations by us and expert use of that augmentation can and will turn the tide in Ukraine’s favor.

  31. P[/3 says:

NATO and the US have the policy of not allowing Russia to lose too much because they fear Putin will resort to nuclear war if he thinks that the loss of the territories that he took from Ukraine in 2014 will result in his ouster. Putin knows that could lead to his murder. He is definitely of the type that would take the world with him. Yet, to continue to allow his nuke threat to affect their decisions is untenable. The Biden administration must give Ukraine the weapons they need to repel and defeat the Russian military.

  32. W]9 says:

Russia is working with a faction of the Republican Party to defeat the democrats at the polls and to eliminate the current leaders of the Democratic Party. Some republicans have accepted the weaponizing of the COVID virus by Russia. They are presently employing a weapon capable of infecting anyone at will. Russia has developed a strain that can be encapsulated and fired into a victim’s body. The strain is so potent that if can immediately begin to affect its victim. The strain has been engineered to resist cures other strains have succumbed to. It could prove to be fatal to its victims or render them less mentally functional.
