I am so pleased for her, and us, as a country. It’s one tiny but memorable step forward for modernity, progress, women’s rights, and people of color.

Herstory was made! Such an incredible accomplishment! ??????Grateful that there were a few republicans that recognized her and did the right thing. A proud moment that is truly inspirational and aspirational for so many.

  2. Social Butterfly says:

Six Republicans on Wednesday opposed a bill directing the government to collect evidence “related to war crimes and other atrocities committed during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.” Every other member of the House present voted “yes.”

The six Republicans who voted “no” were Reps. Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Warren Davidson (Ohio), Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.), Paul Gosar (Ariz.), Thomas Massie (Ky.) and Scott Perry (Pa.).

    VOTE THEM OUT!

In her confirmation remarks, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson quoted Maya Angelou: I am the dream and the hope of the slave. May the glory of today’s historic event give us renewed hope and trust in our democracy, in our ability to learn and grow from mistakes in history, and in our capacity to turn possibilities into reality.

Kadyrovs people are butchers. They did this for decades in Chechnya, but wtf is Chechnya, right? So nobody cared about their butchered civilians there. They love to torture, they love to kill. It‘s their artform, deeply rooted in their culture, sanctioned by their religion, respected by their community. The killing frenzy is a thing.

I bet his family at home is proud of him. The sensitive west is not able to understand how differently people think in other places of the world e.g. Afghanistan or Chechnya. I learnt that as a 5 year old child in India, when my funny, loving, cheerful grandma did gruesome things to her servants and slaves. Very nice people can cheerfully torture dehumanized people if it’s socially acceptable, because that‘s what society expects them to do. Dehumanization makes it not only acceptable, but commendable. Until 1980 most doctors still believed that babies did not feel pain hence surgeries were performed without anaesthesia. None of them doubted that what they were doing was right, they were convinced of doing a good thing.

Any oppressive system depends on violence to legitimate their oppressive system. Putin dehumanized the Ukrainians by spreading tales of them skinning Russian children alive. Hence „For the Children“ on the rockets and the hatred towards the civilians. The Germans were (and many still are) convinced that jewish people do horrible things like killing babies and poisoning wells. These horrific lies have led to centuries of pogromes and the shoa.

I happened to read who spread those lies then after digging around in bank records and the truth is often one hard to swallow. It is locked away forever to preserve the world in their self proclaimed innocence.

Many Germans also know, that their funny loving jovial kind grandfather was also a SS officer hands-on responsible for genocide. Kim Jong Un was a really popular kid at school here in Berne and his friends still cry about what became of him. Assad is a great dad, his kids totally adore him. MBS is a real chum, but he kills his enemies with precision and elegance. Violence there (beheadings etc.) are socially acceptable, a part of culture and a form of art.

I see the next outbreak of violence in France against the northafrican population, as in alsace where Le Pen is from, criminality has become so bad that Swiss trams running to France here had to be stopped bc it is too dangerous and the thugs would throw stones or burn the waggons. I talked to many of them, robbers, thieves, drug peddlers. Those people are hopeless. Too stupid to progress due to massive inbreeding, as their culture prohibits any intellectual work or self improvement. They have average IQs of 70, one third of the kids have inbreeding related eye problems or are otherwise disabled. Unable to participate in society a majority of them become thugs and then potential terrorists. Not all Northafricans are like that but many enough to become a national problem fuelling the far right. (Putins Wagner militia were also active in Africa btw.)
Our neighborhood has constant police patrols to catch them red handed before breakins.
If Le Pen wins it would gift France to Putin, it‘s a horrible prospect. But we remember Vichy, … same dynamic.

There are a lot of poor in this country. When you have no money to pay for lawyers, you just go to prison. Crimes of poverty are also easy to prosecute. White collar crimes are complicated and prosecutors have to deal with teams of some of the best opposing lawyers money can buy. Laws are also written by the rich, for the rich.

  6. Denise says:

America has become corrupt with Republicans putting forward Trump for possible reelection. Given his despicable record both in office and what is still coming out after, voters would consider him again because he has a lock on the GOP leadership machinery that will put his name on the ballot?

Trump is not running on democratic principles but has usurped the election machinery to return. It is corruption of our election process orchestrated by Trump and implemented by the Republican party. This is a subversive coup of government with modern day propaganda, brainwashing as we’ve seen with Putin, another autocrat

    • Nettles says:

And if the republicans get their wish, and he goes unpunished for 1/6, then the blueprint is set for future elections:

The losing candidate is encouraged to organize, fuel and spark an invasion of the capital building during session to protest the results free of any punishment.
      What a country!

  7. Tommy says:

“ Donald Trump Built a National Debt So Big (Even Before the Pandemic) That It’ll Weigh Down the Economy for Year
The “King of Debt” It is not just Trump that did that, it is and has been the GOP strategy for years, both Bush’s did that as well. Create a dept so large so that the first things on the chopping block will be safety net programs, SS and Medicare, they can then tell the American people that they had no choice. Watch what happens when and if they control the government again.

  8. Norman says:

Hey you fucking libs, could it be we support TRUMP because everything was better when he was in office? Look at what has happened to the country after just 1 year of Biden.

  9. Melinda says:

Norman, we can also ask the 22 million people who lost their jobs because Trump was more focused on reelection than stopping covid. Not to mention the domino-effect on healthcare, manufacturing, distribution, and ultimately ending in our current inflation. Yeah, it was STELLAR.

  10. Steven says:

Norman, yeah, everything was better. This country was run by a wannabe dictator, and wanted to get rid of NATO. There would have been nothing to stop Putin, but you don’t seem to care about that, do you.

  11. Marc says:

    Norman:
Could it be the reason everything was better was because Obama saved the economy in spite of the GQP resisting at every turn? You should be thinking how much longer it could have been better if they hadn’t. Instead, as is typical of the GQP, they lined their own pockets. BTW, your taxes are due to go up, courtesy of Trump’s poison pill. The big guys got a permanent cut.

  12. Jimmy says:

Hey Norman, you mean like the trade wars that your Cheeto Jesus started and lost?? I believe that they cost the economy half a trillion dollars.

  13. Helen says:

Norman, my boy, nothing was better under trump, not even Stormy Daniels.

  14. Bristol says:

Trump comes from the don’t ask permission, ask forgiveness philosophy. Most “crimes” simply require the payment of a fine. Most fines can be negotiated downwards by a lawyer. If you have no ethics and plenty of money standard operating procedure would be to do whatever you want and let the lawyers worry about it.

  15. Joe says:

Common sense says that people who refuse to support free healthcare for children can’t claim to be “Pro Life”.

Thurl Ravenscroft was both the voice behind the Christmas song “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and the voice of cereal mascot Tony the Tiger.

    Living Inside the Mind
Rent free is one of the most interesting online slang terms to emerge in the last few years. It means “living inside someone’s head” and is commonly used to insult someone who seems obsessed to an unhealthy degree. Alternatively, some people view it as a way to deflect criticism on the internet.
This slang term is a spin on the standard definition of the phrase. According to the Oxford Dictionary, rent-free is means “not paying or requiring rent.” So, for example, if a friend lets you sleep on their couch for a day, you’d call your accommodation rent-free. One thing to note is that the common word is usually spelled with a dash or “rent-free,” while the slang term is generally spelled without the hyphen or “rent free.”
An essential part of the analogy is that the person you’re thinking about should not be thinking about you. This could be because they’re famous, so they have no idea who you are. It might also be because they bother you significantly more than you bother them, so there’s no reason for them to pay you any mind. That’s why they’re living there “rent free,” — because they don’t have to “pay” attention to you, yet they still stay inside your mind.
    The Origin of Rent Free
The idea of “rent free” referring to someone living in your mind predates the internet. The phrase is attributed to Eppie Lederer, who wrote: “Hanging onto resentment is letting someone you despise live rent-free in your head.” Since then, rent free was used infrequently in literature and media until it took off on the internet.
You can also use it as a personal insult, possibly to tell your friend that you’re sick of hearing about someone. For example, if your friend has been ranting about his ex-girlfriend for the last six months, then you might say that “she’s living rent free.” This lets you point out that he seems absurdly obsessed with someone who’s no longer in his life.
    How to Use Rent Free
Do you want to use rent free for your internet arguments? It’s pretty simple — all you need to do is to tell someone that their obsession is living rent free inside their head. Alternatively, the term has become so common in the last few years that you could reply with “rent free” and get the point across.
Here are a few examples of this phrase in action:
“They’re living rent free inside your head.”
“Stop talking about your professor, he lives rent free.”
“Lebron James is living rent free in all your heads.”

I am so excited the Russian military out number the Ukraine military 14 to 1, but Ukraine has us. We are going to f**k up the russians. Their dead will be larger than any time since Hitler put a whooping on them.

Wednesday the aliens land not in force, but with significant numbers to show the Russians they shouldn’t f**k with aliens.

    • K]/4 says:

We have accepted you request to control the weather to give you an advantage. Good hunting.

    • J[8 says:

Like your sea work, but let’s take it to Russia proper itself. I know, I know, it could prompt a nuclear response, but isn’t that a win, win for us. If it doesn’t, you non cattle dinners win, but if it does we get barbecue, todo los días.

  19. M^/7 says:

I disagree we should continue to support China and India. They are not the only two countries that provide us with a continuous supply of fresh meat. But it must be admitted that they are the only two countries who continuously supply it in the numbers that they do.

    • LEi says:

You are not allowed to use our weapons to assist Ukraine. If NATO and their US doesn’t provide the weapons in time for you to use them to assist Ukraine, then you are to return to your motherships or previous assignments.

      • K]7 says:

We have this. Granted we need the weapons capable of doing what we intend to do to the Russian military. If it pushes Putin to go nuclear, all the better. The US is ready to launch first. However, the US and NATO know that China and India have partnered up to be able to take what they want after NATO and Russia decimates themselves.

We know that China has promised some aliens an enormous amount of cattle. They have been putting substantial down payments on this from Shanghai.

        • G*/8•ª says:

Yes, we are not meat eaters, but you should be concerned about China and India offering such large numbers of their own for your goodwill.

You have no humans to bring up, be assured that if you lean towards any we bring up, you will be summarily executed.

Despite the widely held misunderstanding that Franklin D. Roosevelt had polio, his health problems and lower body paralysis were the result of Guillain–Barré syndrome, a very rare autoimmune disorder that damages the peripheral nervous system.
