A New York Appellate court ruled that starting July 15th, tRUMP and gang are going to have to to sit for depositions related to the investigation of their shady business dealings

Trump is set to undergo questioning in July in N.Y. civil probe

Donald Trump, his namesake son and his daughter Ivanka have agreed to answer questions under oath next month in the New York attorney general’s civil investigation into his business practices.

The second hearing of the Jan 6 committee is being held today. Trump’s campaign manager was supposed to be on the stand today but will not attend. His wife apparently went into labor today (the word “induced” comes to mind).

Trump aides tell Jan. 6 committee he ignored their doubts about election fraud

Top advisers to then-President Donald Trump told him that his claims of widespread election fraud were unfounded and would not reverse his 2020 election loss, but he refused to listen, according to testimony on Monday at a hearing of the committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S.

I think the Jan. 6 Committee did a pretty good job of laying down a framework that will force legislative review. I sure hope so.

New revelations and 3 other takeaways from the first Jan. 6 committee hearing

The committee transported the audience back to Jan. 6 with video of what happened that day. It also made a strong case that former President Donald Trump was responsible for what happened.

GREAT news! A California state court ruled that motion to dismiss filed by Nestle, Pepsi, Coca-Cola and other big companies in connection with Earth Island Institute’s lawsuit to hold the companies accountable for plastic pollution along the California coast CAN go forward!

Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Major Consumer Goods Companies Must Face Plastic Pollution Lawsuit Brought by Environmental Group in California

Earth Island Institute supports environmental projects and environmental leaders to achieve solutions to the crises threatening the survival of life on Earth

I always said that plastics have an id, and the companies that make them should be responsible for cleaning up their polluting garbage!

And, is the US finally ready to address the gun issue? Supposedly a bill has been crafted that just might survive a fillibuster. The bill is a really just a band-aid. It has been very much watered down from how it was originally written in order to get the repugnants on board. I think the Grossly Oppressive Party knows if they don’t show some attention to this issue, its going to backfire on them at the polls. The majority of Americans want gun control.

A bipartisan group of senators announces a deal for school safety and gun measures

The agreement, which has the support of at least 10 Republican senators, is narrowly focused at preventing future shootings similar to the one in Uvalde, Texas.

On this day in 1966, legal history was made. Miranda Rights, were enacted

“In the Hall of the Mountain King” is one of the most recognizable classical compositions in the world but, ironically, was composed by Edvard Grieg as a satire intended to reek of cowpats, ultra-Norwegianism, and “to-thyself-be-enough-ness”.

  2. the NYPost says:

Rep. Bennie Thompson, chairman of the January 6 select committee, said the panel will not make any criminal referrals when it comes to former President Donald Trump
The claim was swiftly contradicted by panel members Liz Cheney and Adam Schiff, who said no decision had been made
Attorney General Merrick Garland said a decision to prosecute will be up to the Justice Department
Just one day before Thompson essentially ruled out charges against Trump, three panel Democrats suggested they had enough evidence for a criminal charge against the former president
Former Trump advisers Bill Stepien and Jason Miller both testified in previously unseen video that Rudy Giuliani was the first person in the ex-president’s circle to push election fraud claims
Trump’s fraud claims came ‘right out of the box on election night,’ testified ex-Attorney General Bill Barr

The first pilot for Star Trek: The Original Series, entitled “The Cage”, was completed in 1965 and, although segments of the pilot’s footage were later incorporated into the first-season two-parter “The Menagerie”, it was not broadcast on television in its complete form until late 1988.

Does that first photo above of the POS and his kids remind anyone else of the series Yellowstone? 🙂

Violets have long been described as having an ephemeral and almost magical scent, and with good scientific reason. The scent of violets comes from a compound called ionone which, aside from smelling very sweet, also has the peculiar property of overwhelming our scent receptors and temporarily shutting them off. This side effect means that over the course of smelling a violet several times in a row, our ability to smell it comes and goes in waves, creating the illusion that we’re smelling it anew again and again.

      Helena,
That is so interesting to me. Thanks for sharing. I’ll keep that in mind when I smell Violets again and again. 🙂

I just had a heated argument with my brother about what the Civil War was about. He claimed it was because the North wanted to limit the rights of the states. I said it was because those states that seceded wanted to preserve insulating Africans. So we went to the Articles of Causes Declaration issued by those states declaring their reasons for secession. Every state in the Confederacy issued an “article of Secession” declaring their break from the Union.

To the idiot’s surprise each declaration makes the defense of slavery a clear objective. Even he had to admit that the desire to preserve a state’s right to enslave another human being was the main reason. It was very clear that even the some of the other Articles of Causes were about the continuation of slavery, the argument for the expansion of slavery, fighting against the abolitionism, the huge amount of money slavery contributed to their economies, the North’s reluctance to enforce the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, etc.

His ultimate response is that god was not against slavery and that the white man was chosen by god to be the head of this planet; just as the white man was chosen to be head of his household. I told him that since he was raised in a family whose mother had to support us after our father divorced her for a younger woman and left us practically penniless, that made little sense.

He replied that he left his wife of 23 years for a younger woman because he no longer wanted to be with a woman who couldn’t make the effort to look presentable. His daughters no longer communicate with him, but his two sons are as they say “neutral.”

Men, are they really worth all the sacrifice we women give them?
