Can dogs eat raw meat?
I was feeding my dog a ‘good’ brand of kibble that ended up almost killing her.
I took her to the vet and was told that I needed to spoil the crap out of her, give her one good day and bring her in when it was time and they’d help her cross the rainbow bridge.
She was dying. She had liver failure and acute pancreatitis. She hadn’t been eating and, desperate, I gave her raw hamburger meat. She snapped it up.
April 2017 was supposed to be the year my dog died.
She got better. The jaundice in her eyes began to improve. I began to research doggy diets and came upon the Biologically Appropriate Raw Food (BARF) diet. Raw meat with fruits and vegetables and a helping assortment of innards (offal).
So I went out and bought beef (she wouldn’t eat anything fowl) and beef heart, tongue, liver, kidney, tripe, you name it. I got yogurt, fruits, veggies, and eggs. I cut them up, ground everything and bagged it all up.
It saved her life.
When my friend’s dog was dying (he had been eating the same kibble), I suggested the BARF diet and it saved her dog’s life, too.
My baby girl is now on a BARF based kibble diet mainly because all that work was so expensive and time consuming.
