  2. HSP says:

HSPs process stimuli in a highly organized, big picture way, which includes awareness of nuances and subtleties that others might not notice. … HSPs can become extremely overstimulated by the sheer amount of information they may be asked to process. Non-HSPs in our society, who make up about 80% of the general population, do not experience the same level of overstimulation.

What’s it like to love a Highly Sensitive Person?

Only about 15-20 percent of the population are HSPs. And much of the remaining 80+ percent has never even heard of high sensitivity. As a result, HSPs don’t just feel misunderstood — they are misunderstood. And they’re used to how most people handle it: by trying to pigeonhole them, stick a stereotype on them, or simply tell them there’s something wrong with them. If you take a different approach, like listening openly and trying to understand their experiences, you will stand out. And they’ll love you for it.

Lots of people don’t like conflict. For an HSP, however, it’s more than that: Conflict is a major source of overwhelm. It’s a situation that demands fast, firm responses (sensory overload) while dumping emotional signals on them (emotional overload). Basically a one-two punch for high sensitivity. (This is related to why HSPs have a hard time dealing with criticism, which comes loaded with the potential for conflict.)

For better or for worse, many HSPs deal with this by going out of their way to keep their partner happy. This can become a problem, particularly when they don’t speak up for their own needs. If you’re dating an HSP, be aware of this tendency; help your partner feel safe to speak their mind, and look together for ways to manage conflict gently. Again, listening skills and creating safe space for honest, no-yelling discussion go a long way.

Let’s be real for a second. Most HSPs have had a long list of suitors who took zero minutes to understand them. These are people who saw the HSP’s creativity, their sensitivity, or their quirky personality and said, “I love that. That’s charming.” But these same people never took the time to say, “I also accept and love the side that has needs, the side that has to process, the side that feels things so deeply, the side that’s inconvenient when it gets overwhelmed.”

Those two sides are part of a single package. No HSP can have one without the other. And every HSP learns to avoid people who only want half of them.

All this talk about processing and stress — it has an upside. The same qualities that make it so hard to be an HSP translate to a rare gift that gets even stronger as life goes on. Dating an HSP means that every so often you’re just going to be blown away by the insights they come up with, or the beauty of something they create — seemingly out of nowhere. This is “the deal” with dating an HSP: Once they truly trust you, they share their brilliance as well as their vulnerability.

If you can take the time to listen and accept your HSP — for their whole being — they will love you more deeply than you have ever been loved before. And if they can trust you when they’re overwhelmed, they will know they’ve found a soul mate.

      12. If your partner talks a lot, is very active or frenetic, listens to music or news a lot, watches TV frequently, or brings up intense or upsetting world news events, it can quickly overstimulate you.

Then you may find yourself with a short fuse, irritable or angry with him or her.

It’s highly unlikely Putin would have invaded Ukraine if Trump was President. National Security journalist Ed Luce said it best: “The reason Putin didn’t invade Ukraine while Trump was president was because he was getting everything he wanted without firing a shot, or risking [losing] an oligarch. War is the last resort. Trump was a gift to Putin that kept on giving.”

BTW, I find it humorous all of the Trump supporters who make the argument since Putin didn’t launch a full invasion of Ukraine until Biden was President, that means Biden is weak. I’m guessing that those same individuals view Winston Churchill as a sniveling weak leader. After all, it wasn’t until he was Prime Minister that Hitler launched attacks on Great Britain, and then later committed forces to North Africa. So doesn’t that prove Hitler found Churchill to be weak? Trump’s actions enabled Putin, such as Chamberlain’s enabled Hitler.

You see, Trump argued NATO was obsolete. He criticized our allies (while praising Putin). Trump abruptly cut all military aid to Ukraine and tried to keep it a secret. Then, when forced to resume it, he ordered that all anti-tank weapons but kept only in Western Ukraine (far from Russian armor). Trump also claimed that it was Ukraine who interfered in the 2016 Presidential election, not Russia. Trump also said that Crimea was part of Russia because they all spoke Russian (which I guess means all areas of the US that speak Spanish or Vietnamese or some other language belong to that country—great logic there!).

  6. Erika says:

Could there be a argument that some HSPs are narcissists? Narcissists are masters of destroying or sabotaging their own relationships. This is one of the reasons it’s not possible to make them happy.
This sabotage is driven by 3 key factors:

The lack of whole object relations and object constancy
    The need for narcissistic supply
The need to preserve their idealized self, their persona
The lack of whole object relations and object constancy.

The narcissist does not have the ability to see all of you at one time. They see you as “all good” or “all bad.” They also don’t have the ability to remain positive about your relationship during a challenge or a setback. They assume it is over.

For this reason, the narcissist will do or say things when they see you as “all bad” that are harmful to the relationship.

    They will…

Say something so cruel that things will never be the same
    Reveal your deepest secrets
Destroy something of importance to you
    Cheat on you
As soon as they flip back into seeing you as “all good,” which can happen quickly, they do not remember ever feeling you were “all bad.” They cannot fathom having done or said anything hurtful because they “never felt that way.”

    This is when you’ll hear…

    That never happened
I would never say that to you!
    That doesn’t sound like me
They have sabotaged the relationship for both of you.

    The need for narcissistic supply.
The need for narcissistic supply is so strong, it supersedes all else. Remember, a narcissist gleans supply in 2 ways:
Ingratiation: admiration, praise, respect, validation, positive attention
Grandiosity: Gaining power and control by devaluing others

    The narcissist will…
Ruin their laundry by leaving a pen in their pocket, just to ruin yours
Get fired, decreasing discretionary family income, for attention
Continue to blatantly lie, when you’ve told them you’ll leave if it happens again

The need to preserve their idealized self, their persona.
The narcissist needs street cred with their flying monkeys. They will do things that sabotage their relationship just to preserve their image.
They also need to reinforce this image for themselves.

    The narcissist will…
Demean you in public, to look powerful
Flirt with younger, attractive people to look more attractive
Transfer finances into their name to be in control
When their persona includes being a victim, they will sabotage themselves just to have more victim stories.

    The narcissist will…
Take a pic while driving, then post it publicly, just so they aren’t considered safe to drive their kids. Be physically aggressive with the kids, so they have supervised contact only.
Spend all of their money, so they can be broke. But is it actually sabotage?

Or instead, is the narcissist getting exactly what they need?
While it appears that the narcissist has ruined their day, their financial security, their relationship with their kids, the narcissist has actually secured narcissistic supply. That’s their primary need.

The narcissist has gotten exactly what they wanted.

    • Erica says:

It is important to note that many highly sensitive people are not narcissistic. Highly sensitive people are often aware, empathetic, and excellent listeners, which are the antithesis of narcissism.

What’s stopping the China or any other country from copying Tesla electric cars and selling them on the cheap?
The cost of batteries, which is literally the only reason electric cars aren’t already cheaper than gas cars.

Did you know that the last batch of batteries made for Tesla before they started production on their own facility, were made by Samsung in Korea? Not that Korea is anything like China, but the point is that the thing that’s driving down the cost of batteries isn’t labour, it’s robots. Or more importantly, the machinery that makes those tiny individual cells:

Thousands of those AA batteries go into a Tesla battery pack. Tesla’s gigafactory now produces more batteries in a year than were produced worldwide in 2013.

So… all any competitor has to do, is build themselves a gigafactory, not a cheap knockoff of the exterior of the Model S. That should be a piece of cake!

Charging Your Tesla at Hotels and Diners May Not Be Free Anymore
      CORY GUNTHER
In 2020, Tesla upgraded its Destination Chargers with Gen 3 Wi-Fi-equipped wall connectors and told property owners that it would enable paid charging in the future. Now, several reports have confirmed that paid charging at Destination Chargers is rolling out in the Tesla app for businesses and hosts.

When you’re looking to charge a Tesla anywhere away from home, owners typically have two types of options. Tesla has its expansive Supercharger network, offering DC fast-charging, which you’ll normally find at gas stations and such.

Then, the automaker has its Destination Charging Network. As the name suggests, this offers slower level 2 wall connector chargers, which you’ll often find at destinations like restaurants and hotels. The charging speed is slower, but it’s free while you stay at the hotel or enjoy dinner.
However, it looks like Tesla is finally ready to deploy its paid Destination Charging system. As a result, hotels, apartment complex buildings, and other retail locations could soon start adding even more Destination chargers, then seamlessly charge customers to use one.

Tesla recently updated its Commercial Registration for Wall Connectors form with the addition of paid charging, but there’s one issue that may prevent some locations from taking advantage of it. Property managers must offer six or more wall connectors to charge customers to use a Destination Charger.

“Tesla Commercial Services can be enabled on Gen3 Tesla Wall Connectors that are connected to either Wi-Fi or Cellular and have a signed Services Agreement with Tesla. A minimum of six units are required to be installed to be considered for this service.”

More importantly, this rollout could allow non-Tesla EVs to use the Destination Charging network, as long as they pay for it.

It’s worth noting that while previously these locations offered free charging, many hotel chains, restaurants, or other potential businesses chose not to offer it. However, now that they’ll be able to install a few more stations, then charge customers a fee, we could see the Destination Charger network rapidly expand.

Many hotels throughout the United States only have 2-4 destination stations, which will remain free for drivers. Only when a location adds six or more will they be able to charge a fee.

This is a win-win for Tesla drivers and businesses. In the future, you’ll be able to find more destination chargers than ever before. And the business hosting six or more chargers can set a fair fee and recoup the electricity costs while attracting more users to their location.
      ========================
      My take:
It may be a “win-win” for businesses, but how is that a win for Tesla drivers who used to get free charges? That greedy bastard Musk is fucking it up for the rest of us as usual.

  8. Susan says:

The battery packs in EVs – don’t just stop working. Rather their capacity slowly declines. Once they reach (say) 70% of their original capacity – you might have a car which has “only” 180 miles of range. The 70% figure is often quoted as an “end of life” figure. Who would want a car which can only go 180 miles on a charge?

    Well, I would.
My car which I use every day, when completely full, usually has less than 100 miles of range.

But if the car is scrapped, the battery pack still has a lot of value. A battery pack might be repurposed with some minimal work into a domestic storage battery. Many home owners would be delighted to have a 35KWh battery pack. The retail value of a pack like this would be easily $12000 or more.
So direct reuse is the best way to recycle a battery.

If the battery is degraded or damaged and it cannot be used directly, then then it can be recycled and its constituents reused to make more batteries.

100% of the lithium can be recovered, and most of the other substances can be reclaimed. Battery recycling as an industry will build up slowly because right now, there are very few packs at the end of life.

This may answer you question of why China isn’t copying Tesla.

One of China’s largest auto manufacturers, BYD (Build Your Dreams), recently announced plans to continue its rapid global expansion of electric vehicle deliveries. BYD Auto is considered by many to be one of Tesla’s biggest rivals, and the company isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
