Poland is transferring its MIG-29 fighter jets to a US airbase, the Polish foreign ministry claimed as it announced a move that could prove crucially helpful for Kyiv.
“The authorities of the Republic of Poland, after consultations between the president and the government, are ready to deploy — immediately and free of charge — all their MIG-29 jets to the Rammstein Air Base and place them at the disposal of the government of the United States of America.”
Washington has been looking at a proposal under which Poland would supply Ukraine with Soviet-era fighters, which Ukrainian pilots are trained to fly, and in turn receive American F-16s to make up for their loss. The operation would be “immediate and free of charge” and, according to Warsaw, hopes to trigger initiatives “in the same vein” from NATO allies.
Russia has a secret chip in those jets which allows them to turn them off mid combat.
Republicans sure want to tell people how to live their lives. Screaming “Freedom”, but in the mean time not allowing families to deal with their transgender children without the government chasing them.
Similar to same-sex marriage. If you are a dude and you don’t want to marry another dude, don’t. You have that freedom. Don’t tell others what to do though.

I’m not defending the Saudis, I agree with you, and I’m against the death penalty in the US, but to be fair, beheading is one of the most humane ways to execute a person. The “modern” method of lethal injection has turned out to be a failure, torturing the condemned in an effort to reduce the distress of the families by preserving the remains. Beheading is gruesome to observe, and leaves the remains, well, beheaded, but the condemned person experiences almost instant and certain death.
I just can’t resist this one. How do you know??? I’ve always wondered how anyone who hasn’t experienced it can claim someone else died “instantly”.
I realize that there is speculation about whether and how long the brain continues to function after decapitation, but I don’t think anyone has claimed that it could continue for more than a few seconds at most. The rest of the body, being without a brain, much less brain function, and having suffered massive exsanguination, will follow the usual process, in which some organs continue to function for a short time.
But I think what you’re talking about is not death per se (we certainly can state whether a person is alive or dead, IAW medical and legal standards), but consciousness.
I was an EMT and an Army medic. There are instances of massive head trauma in which one can, indeed, say that brain function ceased instantly.
Aren’t these friends of Don Trump, Trump Junior and the Trump Mob Syndicate? Isn’t this where the Trump Organization goes for funding and in return provide money laundering opportunities in over priced real estate deals?
Here is where liberals are so out of touch. Trump and Republicans want to produce US energy. That drives the price of oil and gas down, which hurts countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran and Russia and helps America. Democrats want to shutdown US energy production, which raises the price of oil and gas, helping the countries we don’t like and hurting America.
Progressives want to remove our dependency on foreign oil by moving away from all fossil fuels and to cleaner, renewable sources that are not owned by murderous monarchs as well as destroying our environment.
This is where wing nuts are so ignorant. Trump did everything he could to get the Saudis to cut production so the oil companies can get fuel prices up high enough so they could make enough money to drill. The Biden administration has many oil leases that are not being I used until the oil companies get the price they want. Biden is not restricting drilling. Get your facts straight and your head out of the sand.
Trump increased oil production by 2.4 million barrels, Obama by 3.5 million barrels. Obama presided over the highest increase in oil production in US history. Trump rode on those coattails.
The economy grew under Obama, not so much under tRump.
The Indian Wells tennis tournament is run by racists for racists. No one of Color should play there again. No one deserves to be abused, verbally or otherwise, on their job. If the authorities at Indians Wells do not have the strength of character to ensure civility for the athlete, then why attend. I am sorry this happened to Naomi, the history repeated itself, but shining a light on despicable behavior is needed and warranted. Ensure it does not happen again. Do not attend again and take legal action if steps are taken to force you to.

Nonsense. We all know that many Russians disagree with what their country is doing. But the fact is that their country IS doing it, and their country as a whole must suffer the consequences.

I think you’re jumping the gun. Naomi is a VERY popular player and is very positively received everywhere she goes. These are two isolated incidences and it’s not even certain that this one with Naomi had anything to do with racism. This one involved one single person who made one single comment. So casting Indian Wells as some sort of hotbed of racism based on that is totally unfair.

Helen I quoted you without the quotes because what you said was so emotional for me. I work there, and the racism is palpable. The whites in this part of the country have been given the green light by tRump and his ilk to express their racism in your face. One day that shit is going to backfire on these racists bastards, no matter how well armed they are.
Me, I’m looking forward to it. One day they will learn they aren’t the only ones who can buy guns and train to use them.
The Russians got the balance of investment in different military services wrong. Getting the balance of investment in land, air, maritime, cyber and information domains wrong can have catastrophic consequences.
Western powers need to take heed. Getting the balance right also requires those elements coordinate efficiently. It is easy to reach a nation how to exploit those deficiencies. The US can afford to adopt a wait and see attitude for a while because they have a force willing and able to fight the Russian military. All it has to do is figure out a way to continue to supply that fighting spirit.
Of course the time will come when Putin will have to decide whether he is willing to go nuclear to avoid the possibility of losing his military goals. Then if no one blinks, the world will be at war. Will we intervene?
